Meet Tjdeen

Tajudeen Adeyemi Garuba, was born on 21st July, 1975 at Lagos Mainlaind, Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary school education at Alaafia Primary School, Coker (1981-1987) and Imoye High School, Mile 2, Amuwo Odofin (1987 – 1993) – both in Lagos, Nigeria.

After Secondary school, he went to Ilorin, Kwara State, where he enrolled for the West African Examinations Council Senior School Certificate (WASC O’Level) in 1994. On completion of the examinations, he returned to Lagos in 1995 and worked briefly as a nursery school class auxiliary teacher at Olohunwa Nursery and Primary school and Abebi Nursery and Primary School, both in Amukoko, Lagos (1996 – 1997). This brief exposure to the teaching profession geared his interest in academics-cum-educational pursuit. Thus, he proceeded to the Kwara State College of Education, Oro in 1997. He got his NCE Certificate in English/Political Science (1997 – 2000). By August 2000, he proceeded to the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria were he bagged his B.A. (Ed) English in 2003.

Immediately after this, he embarked on the  National Youth Service Programme in Nasarawa State (February 2004 ). He got a teaching appointment at Al-Iman Secondary School, Lafia, Nasarawa State (and acted as HOD Languages, 2005 – 2006), immediately after the Youth Service Corps. He left Al-Iman School to take up a teaching job with the FCT Secondary Eduction Board, Garki – Abuja by September 2016.

Tajudeen was appointed the Head of Languages Department at Government Secondary School (GSS), Gudun Karya, Abuja – Nigeria (2006 – 2013). He was made head of the Literature in English Unit of Languages Department at Government Science Secondary School  (GSSS) Tunga-Maje (2013 – 2016), where he also taught Literature in English. As well, he is undergoing Masters Degree Programme in (Teaching English as Second Language – TESL) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – Nigeria. He is interested in Learners Autonomy and Language Learning. He is blessed with kids. Currently, Tajudeen resides in Dallas, Texas USA.

Tajudeen writes poetry, short stories and social commentary on current affairs in Nigeria and across the globe. He writes and directs school dramas/plays.

He is an advanced user of social networking sites and media, aside from being a blogger. He is also into “cyber-Publication”. He also has a flair for cyber-journalism…He is fully into infotech activities in his spare times! He likes playing table tennis, volleyball, football in his leisure time and practices Taekwando for self-defence.
